WordCamp Mumbai 2019 is looking for a volunteer photographer.

Smartphones have made everyone a photographer, but a real photographer is the one who knows how to tell a story. We are looking for a visual storyteller inform of a photographer for WordCamp Mumbai 2019.

This is a volunteer position, just like all our positions in the community. Please think of contributing to our open-source platform and help us document this year’s WordCamp Mumbai 2019.

WordCamp Mumbai 2019 is thrilled to announce Contributor day on the 8th of November, so pack your laptops and charge all your devices because it is going to be epic fun!

Get a chance to mingle with the bright minds, and learn from them as you come together to make WordPress better for the global community.

Contributor day is dedicated to making WordPress efficient. If you have the willingness to provide your skill sets, we have a team that will be happy to have you. We have benefited vastly due to WordPress and its open-source platform, and through Contributor day, we have decided it’s time to give back.

No matter your skill sets and level of experience, if you want to help make WordPress better, we have something amazing lined up for you. So come and lets power up WordPress together through our finalized list of Contributor Teams.

Important announcement!

Dear WordPress Community Members,

We are ecstatic to conduct WordCamp Mumbai this year, and just like every year that we have been conducting, our joy knows no bounds. But every year there have always been slight changes here and there which made this humongous event a tiny bit difficult. But we have always been through due to strong help from the community, and we have never found the need to share the challenges we have faced before. Until now.

We are scaling down WordCamp Mumbai 2019

We were aiming for around 800 attendees (last year we had 700 attendees) but we are scaling down to around 300 to 400 attendees due to the late announcement. As you may have realized we have had to delay the WordCamp Mumbai 2019 due to unavailability of a proper venue that could comfortably manage a huge audience. Hence we had to change the event dates from March to November, a lot of sponsors weren’t on board due to one reason or the other, which we wholeheartedly understand. 

But now, we are facing some critical issues.

The only way to streamline these issues is by massively scaling down. It means we will be releasing only limited passes, due to less number of sponsors.

We need More Sponsors.

Sponsors, we understand there is a limited amount of time, but we still require your cooperation and would appreciate your confirmation at the earliest in order to help the organising team to run the event smoothly. Please understand and help us out in our critical time as a community.

With the addition of GST and lack of proper venue, and turning the WordCamp Mumbai 2019, into the 3-day event, it is becoming difficult for us to manage and that’s why this message. 

We want your Support.

We made a collective decision of not cancelling this year because that would mean letting so many of you down, not to mention, all the volunteer’s hard work and efforts that go into making this event a success.

We didn’t want it to go waste.

It’s just a tough time and we are holding each other strong. All we want is to have our back.

Supporting a not for profit cause is a powerful way to give back to the community. Helping the underprivileged or backing a good cause is a great source of joy. Whether it for the short term or long term, the progress of society can have a strong impact on people and change the way they live their lives.

WordPress Mumbai is based on the foundation of giving back to the community. And what better way to give back to the community, then to help the Nonprofit organizations.

Keeping this in mind, WordPress Mumbai Community is organizing its first-ever do_action charity hackathon for local Non-Profit Organizations based out of Mumbai.

At the do_action charity hackathon, volunteers of the WordPress Mumbai Community help Non-Profit Organizations in building their online presence using WordPress. We understand that Non-Profit Organizations are working round the clock with a tight budget. So, with the do_action charity hackathon, the NGOs can invest their funds in greater things.

do_action events are sponsored by the WordPress Foundation where volunteers of the local WordPress community come together to plan and build brand new websites for several local nonprofit organizations in one day.

WordPress Mumbai Community will also offer training to the representatives of the NGOs so that they can fully manage their website in the future.

WordCamp Mumbai 2019 is happening and we are all excited.

This is the first time it’s going to be a three day event and everyone is waiting with bated breath.

On 8th November, we will celebrate Contributor day. The event will bring together bright minds to make WordPress better using their skills and expertise. It’s the best way to celebrate WordCamp locally and the response we have received yet is amazing, to say the least.

The day is then followed by two day WordCamp as we know it, where trailblazing sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities will present itself to the community.

There are many changes we are going for this year, for example, it’s happening in November, one of the best time to experience the chilly winters of Mumbai. It’s the best time to travel around and travel to the city after WordCamp! Ask any Mumbaikar and you’ll get winters are the best in the city.

As we grow bigger, aspirational and scale new heights we have to face the fact that there will be an increase in the costs. There will be venue costs, food & refreshment costs, maintenance costs. New ideas need support, and what better way than to have support from the community.

The major reason for the increase in ticket prices is the inclusion of GST costs on each item which needed to be calculated. The introduction of GST has increased the overall budget and to provide the best experience we have decided to increase the price of our tickets.

The price covers all the basic costs required to organize the mega event and to ensure the community has exceptional experience of WordCamp Mumbai 2019. We believe the hike will be accepted by you the attendee and you will come in strong numbers to show support as you have always done so.
